The Artist: 
Thomas Blackshear

Thomas Blackshear's Ebony Visions was introduced in April 1995 with the release of the first six designs. Since then, Blackshear has created 41 new designs to add to the collection. Blackshear's elegant style is a blend of both Art Nouveau and African culture. Blackshear calls his style Afro-Nouveau.

In his own Words, "Thomas Blackshear's Ebony Visions reflects not only my own visions as a black man, but also the visions we all share, regardless of the color of our skin. Because in the essence, the physical and spiritual expression in my sculptures are all part of the human experience."

Since the introduction of Thomas Blackshear's Ebony Visions, Thomas has received numerous awards including the prestigious 1999 National Association of Limited Edition Dealers "Artist of the Year."

The Sculptor:  Mark Newman
With 14 years of professional sculpting, Mark Newman's talents culminates in Thomas Blackshear's Ebony Visions. An honors graduate of the Art Academy of San Francisco, Mark was a student of Thomas Blackshear. He attributes much of his success in accurately interpreting Thomas's drawings to the fact that he's known Thomas for many years and well understands his work.
Currently, Mark is living in Oakland, Ca, and is creating his own bronze sculptures.
